C.A.P.V.I.

Judith Lesner (the VI community’s own “Doctor Ruth) is once again collecting used Braille books and other VI stuff as well as new and gently used toys for Christmas presents for children with visual impairments in the Philippines. This is a project of California Assn for Parents of Children with Visual Impairments (CAPVI) which is a registered non-profit with a 501(3)(c) number.

Judith has been connected to various folks in the Philippines since she served there as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the mid-60’s (yep, she’s old). Through NAPVI she became involved with a group of Filipino parents of blind children. The group is Parents Advocating for Visually Impaired Children (PAVIC) and is affiliated with NAPVI and with Hilton-Perkins. Through Philippine Air Lines Foundation, she is able to ship packages to PAVIC without any freight charges. The plan is to ship out the packages prior to Thanksgiving to arrive in time for their December 13th Christmas party. Any donations of blind stuff, toys and/or money to purchase toys will be gratefully and delightfully appreciated.  Please email Judith Lesner at mavenno1@aol.com to arrange for collection.
